Licence Terms

Last updated: January 5, 2024

The World Economic Forum (the “Forum” “we” or “our”) is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. We are neutral and impartial with no political, partisan or national interests, and with the intention of creating a platform for open dialogue between all stakeholders.

The Forum owns and operates the website www.weforum.org as well as all related subdomains, pages and feeds (individually “Website” and collectively “Websites”). Our Websites may contain features and content (non-exhaustively) including data, blogs, articles, graphics, reports and publications, pictures and videos (“Material” or collectively Materials”).

We make our Websites available to users (individually “Visitor” or “you” and collectively “Visitors” or “they”) under these Licence Terms.

If you use or upload any Material from our Websites, you acknowledge that you have fully read, understood, and agree to these Licence Terms. These Licence Terms contain conditions, disclaimers and other provisions, some of which limit the Forum’s liability. Any Visitor who does not agree or comply with these Licence Terms must not use or upload the Material from our Websites.

We may update these Licence Terms, at our own discretion, from time to time. Every time you wish to use or upload any Material on our Websites, please check these Licence Terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time. Continued access to our Website and use or upload of any Materials will be deemed as the Visitor’s acceptance of, and agreement to be bound by, any such updated Licence Terms.

The Forum may also update and change the Website from time to time and may suspend or restrict the availability or all or any part of it at any time.

Use of the Forum’s publications and data

The Forum publishes its own content as well as links, content and resources provided by third parties and content that has been specifically commissioned by the Forum for publication on the Websites.

All proprietary rights relating to any links, content or resources published on the Websites remain with the original source or the author(s) of that material and where any content has been commissioned by the Forum for publication on the Websites, any proprietary rights in such content remain with the relevant author, unless otherwise agreed or specified.

For all other content published on the Websites, the Forum reserves all proprietary rights including, but not limited to, copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights in and to all content on the Websites; this includes all text, graphics, photographs, logos and/or other items that appear on the Websites. The Forum also reserves its rights over the Websites’ template, including its layout and structure.

Unless otherwise indicated, use of the Forum’s Material is Licensed to you under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Public Licence (“CCPL”), which can be viewed here.

This means that you are free to share (copy and redistribute) our Materials in any medium or format, as long as you:

  • Do so only for non-commercial purposes
  • Give proper attribution (credit) to the author and the Forum, in accordance with section 3 (a) of the CCPL
  • Do not distribute modifications of our Materials

If you would like to use our Materials for commercial purposes, you must receive our prior written permission to do so. To request our permission, please contact us in the email address under “Contact” section.

The CCPL does not apply to the Forum’s name and logo, materials not owned by the Forum, Website interface elements, and source code.

The Forum’s name and logo are registered trademarks of the Forum. Visitors are not permitted to use the Forum’s name, logo, acronym, or likeness, or any identifying symbol in any way; nor are Visitors allowed to use third-party trademarks (such as name and logo) without first acquiring permission from such third party.

If the use of Materials, either alone or in combination with other data, can identify an individual, you must comply with all applicable data protection laws and regulations, as an independent data controller.

The Forum reserves all rights, which have not been expressly granted.

No endorsement and use of our logo

You must not represent nor imply that your use of our Materials is connected with, sponsored, endorsed, or granted official status by the Forum, or otherwise claim or imply any affiliation with the Forum.

For any translation of the Forum’s Material, Visitors must include the following disclaimer:

“This translation was not created by the World Economic Forum and should not be considered an official World Economic Forum translation. The World Economic Forum shall not be liable for any content or error in this translation.”

THE CONTENT, LINKS AND RESOURCES (INCLUDING THE MATERIAL) ON THE WEBSITES IS PROVIDED FOR GENERAL INFORMATION ONLY. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO AMOUNT TO ADVICE ON WHICH VISITORS SHOULD RELY. VISITORS SHOULD OBTAIN PROFESSIONAL OR SPECIALIST ADVICE BEFORE TAKING, OR REFRAINING FROM, ANY ACTION ON THE BASIS OF THE CONTENT ON THE FORUM'S SITE.

Waiver and severability of terms of use

The failure of the Forum to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Licence Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

If any provision of these Licence Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavour to give effect to the parties’ intention as reflected in the provision and the other provisions of these Licence Terms shall remain in full force and effect.

Applicable law

These Licence Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the substantive laws of Switzerland, under the exclusion of any international treaty and under exclusion of any conflicts of laws principles. Exclusive place of jurisdiction shall be Geneva, Switzerland.
