China

In 1970, there were only two megacities in the world. Today, there are 13 in Asia alone.

It is a well known fact that China has the largest population on Earth, so it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that it also has some of the largest cities. China has 40 cities with a population over a million people. Compare that with the United States, which only has 10.

Below is a list of the 10 largest cities in China, based on 2015 estimates.
