François Bonnici

Head of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, World Economic Forum

Dr François Bonnici is the Head of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. François is a physician, professor and the former Founding Director of the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship University of Cape Town, the first academic centre dedicated to social innovation in Africa. His experience spans over two decades of working across multiple systems, sectors and scales, deeply rooted in context and frontline work, while also working extensively with public sector, multilaterals, civil society, business and foundations in progressive and catalytic partnerships. Recognized as a Rhodes Scholar, South Africa (1999), a Global Leadership Fellow of the World Economic Forum (2005), and an Archbishop Tutu African Leadership Fellow (2013). Serves as board member of the Tshishimani Centre for Activist Education.
