Global energy in 2026 will be marked by growth, resilience and competition
For the global energy economy, 2026 is shaping up to be a high-stakes execution test shaped around three themes: growth, resilience and competition.
The World Economic Forum’s Advanced Energy industry community engages leaders that drive the energy transition in frontier segments of the energy system. The community aims to accelerate, from decades to years, the deployment at industrial scale of advanced solutions such as clean fuels and hydrogen, advanced nuclear, storage and carbon removal.
The community helps:
- inform debate on advanced energy,
- provide a platform to engage across technology and energy producers, energy users and investors,
- address regulation and policy.

For the global energy economy, 2026 is shaping up to be a high-stakes execution test shaped around three themes: growth, resilience and competition.
There are several key energy technology trends dominating 2025. Security, costs and jobs; decarbonization; China; India; and AI all need to be monitored.
An integrated vision of the energy system, where electricity and gas solutions seamlessly complement each other, is key to meeting the energy challenge.
