400,000 teachers are being trained in AI-Starting in New York

This video is part of: Centre for the New Economy and Society

For many teachers, the advent of AI has been overwhelming. Its rapid advance and ubiquity - in classrooms as well as in students’ pockets - are already impacting education.

Now, a new, first-of-its-kind project - a partnership between the American Federation of Teachers and 3 major technology companies - aims to reset the relationship between AI and schools.

The National Academy for AI Instruction - a bricks-and-mortar establishment based in New York - will train around 1 in 10 teachers in the US over the next 5 years.

They will learn how to use this technology to its fullest in their classrooms - and how to ensure their students have the skills and knowledge they need to thrive today and in the future.
