How does the world see climate change?

Arwen Armbrecht
Senior Writer, Forum Agenda

Latin Americans are the most concerned about climate change, according to recent research by Pew, with over 70% of the population there defining climate change as a “very serious problem”.

Around the globe, 51% of those surveyed said they were already feeling the impact of climate change. The survey also found that countries with high emissions of CO2 were less likely to say climate change was a very serious problem. The United States and China, the world’s two largest emitters, were substantially less concerned than Latin America and Africa.

People were also asked what they thought could be done about climate change. Nearly 80% of those surveyed said they supported the limiting of greenhouse gas emissions in their country. Two thirds admitted that major changes in their own lives would be needed to have an impact.
