These are the 10 most gender-equal countries in the world

The first Global Gender Gap Report was published 20 years ago. After two decades of data on gender parity, it’s clear the world is travelling in the right direction. Back in 2006, the average gender gap of the 97 economies that have featured in every report was 64% closed. Today it is 69% closed - a new high-water mark. For the third consecutive year, a higher number of economies have reported better results. The ranking tracks 14 indicators across health, education, economic participation and politics - and of those indicators, 10 have improved since last year. The global gender gap in educational attainment is now 97% closed - and is on course to close fully in eight years’ time.
