Ghana just declared its first marine protected area

This video is part of: Centre for Nature and Climate

Almost 200 countries across the world have pledged to protect 30% of their ocean by 2030. But right now, there’s a lot of work to do, with just 10% of the global ocean protected.

Ghana just took a big step forward with the establishment of the Greater Cape Three Points Marine Protected Area (MPA).

The ocean reserve will protect coastal ecosystems rich in biodiversity - and in turn support fish stocks so that communities of fishers can go on plying their trade and supporting their families.

Friends of Ocean Action is a group of leaders from business, science, and civil society who use their knowledge to help conserve the ocean and sustainably manage marine resources
