This Storm-Proof Buoy Captures A Surprising Amount Of Wave Energy

The buoy is attached to the ocean floor and floats beneath the water surface, harnessing the energy of passing waves. Creator AWS Ocean Energy trialled the buoy for 6 months in Orkney, Scotland. It captures 10kW of power in moderate waves and 80kW in peak conditions. Here’s how it can tap even more wave energy in the future.
