Quantum computers could soon be used to discover new medicines

This video is part of: Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation

They’ve devised a mathematical recipe for something called a ‘quantum simulator’. Quantum simulators can model incredibly complex events, such as how molecules and atoms interact and how a new drug will behave when administered. They can simulate the molecular structure of a drug and its potential target proteins in the human body enabling researchers to predict how the drug will bind to its target and its potential therapeutic effect.
