These 10 Countries Have Been Hit Hardest by Food Inflation

A number of factors are driving food inflation, from trade restrictions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to the rising cost of fertilizers. Four-fifths of low-income countries and 90% of middle-income countries have food inflation of about 5% in a year. According to the Global Risks Report, inflation is the most severe threat facing the world over the next 2 years. The World Bank says countries must make efforts to boost the energy and fertilizer supply. Support farmers to increase plantings and crop yields and prevent food from being diverted to biofuel or unnecessary storage.
