‘If somebody handed you a glass of dirty water, you wouldn’t drink it,’ says @JaneBurston, CEO of the @Clean-Air-Fund. ‘But none of us can avoid breathing the dirty air that surrounds us.’ Globally, 8 million premature deaths annually are attributed to air pollution. But given that almost all the planet breathes unsafe air, how can we tackle this rising health threat? The answer is through concerted action, says Burston - and she has a good idea of where to start: cities. Cities produce most of the planet’s air pollution, but they’re also well equipped to pivot with small, smart changes. The World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Clean Air convenes leading experts to identify and advance solutions to air pollution.
