This start-up processes copper concentrates without generating emissions

Kofiln is developing a new technology, using green hydrogen as a ‘reducing agent’. In copper smelting, reducing agents remove impurities from the copper ore concentrates to obtain the pure copper. In 2023, approximately 22 million tons of copper were produced worldwide representing between 0.2-0.3% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
