The energy transition is underway. New milestones are being broken every year. But progress around the world is uneven. Which countries are furthest ahead? And which are catching up the fastest?

The World Economic Forum’s Energy Transition Index benchmarks the progress of 120 countries as they work towards building a more secure, equitable and sustainable energy future. This year, there are some familiar names at the top, but as the transition gathers pace there is notable progress elsewhere, as Roberto Bocca, Head of the Forum’s Centre for Energy and Materials, explains.
